AN OPINION ESSAY
The objective when writing an opinion essay is to convince the readers that
the writer’s opinion is justified. In order to do so, the writer should give
aspects about the essay topic that support his or her opinion.
OPINION ESSAY STRUCTURE
1. Opening: It’s important to introduce the topic of the
sentence in one sentence so that the reader knows what the essay is about.
Together with the topic, the writer’s opinion should be stated in this first
paragraph.
2. Body: The writer’s opinion is supported by facts
and examples. This part of the essay may be one or several paragraphs depending
on the essay extension.
3. Conclusion: This final paragraph includes a brief summary
and restates the writer’s opinion.

AN EXAMPLE
Computers in our lives (153)
We must agree that technology is present in our lives. We cannot
imagine living in this world without computers. They are present in everything
we do today.
As everything, they bring a lot of
advantages but disadvantages also exist. Computers have changed our lives, for
example, e-mails are fast, we can book or make reservations, pay, write, do all
kinds of things if we are connected to the Internet.
But on the other hand, there are
negative consequences, too. The Internet can be dangerous if we are not
careful. Children are very vulnerable to inappropriate information. Viruses and
hackers are also a risk or danger for our privacy. Many people become addicted
to computers or mobile phones, spending
too much time connected without interruption.
To conclude, I would like to say
that, as we cannot live without computers and ITC technologies, we should use
them reasonably and give them a correct use.
