AN INFORMATIVE ESSAY (SELECTIVIDAD)
YouTube (147)
YouTube is a video sharing service
which allows users to use videos posted by others users and upload videos of
their own (by themselves).
This service started as an independent
website at the beginning of the XXI century but was purchased by Google in
2006, just one year after its creation. Videos uploaded to YouTube can appear
both on the YouTube website or on different websites since the files are freely
shared.
The motto or slogan of the website is
'Broadcast Yourself', which means that the service was designed primarily for
ordinary people who want to publish videos they have created but in an very
easy way, with no technological complications at all.
We could state that for
cultural purposes, business interests or just for pure fun, countless people
visit YouTube almost every second all over the world, this way having become a
powerful tool in the technological world.

A FOR and AGAINST ESSAY
A FOR and AGAINST ESSAY
A
For and Against Essay is usually about a topic which is quite controversial.
This type of essay presents both sides of the issue and then states which side
of the issue the writer agrees with (usually the idea exposed in the second
paragraph). The objective when writing an For and Against Essay is to present
both advantages and disadvantages of one single topic. In order to do so, the
writer should give aspects about the essay topic that support his or her
opinion.
FOR and AGAINST
ESSAY STRUCTURE
1. Opening: It’s important to introduce the
topic of the sentence in one sentence so that the reader knows what the essay
is about.
2. Body: In two paragraphs, the writer must
provide the reader with both advantages and disadvantages of the given topic. The
writer’s opinion (if stated) is usually given in the second paragraph.
3. Conclusion: This final paragraph includes a
brief summary and restates the writer’s opinion.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Living in the
City and in the Country (135)
My personal opinion about the
advantages and disadvantages of living in the city and in the country is that
both options are perfectly valid, it will just depend on your interests or
preferences.
On the one hand, and because I was
born within a huge city, I prefer living there since I am used to it, I find
all the facilities these settings offer quite comfortable and I need urban
spaces to carry on with my life.
On the other hand, living in the
country can also be a wonderful experience due to the fact that those problems
derived from insecurity, pollution or criminal rates are practically
non-existing.
To sum up, whether to live in a city
or in a village is always a very personal choice which will offer you both
advantages and disadvantages.

Computers in our lives (153)
We must agree that technology is present in our lives. We cannot
imagine living in this world without computers. They are present in everything
we do today.
As everything, they bring a lot of
advantages but disadvantages also exist. Computers have changed our lives, for
example, e-mails are fast, we can book or make reservations, pay, write, do all
kinds of things if we are connected to the Internet.
But on the other hand, there are
negative consequences, too. The Internet can be dangerous if we are not
careful. Children are very vulnerable to inappropriate information. Viruses and
hackers are also a risk or danger for our privacy. Many people become addicted
to computers or mobile phones, spending
too much time connected without interruption.
To conclude, I would like to say
that, as we cannot live without computers and ITC technologies, we should use
them reasonably and give them a correct use.

A Summary (Selectividad)
(Space exploration is part of modern culture.
Unfortunately, as well as polluting Earth, man has started to pollute outer
space too.)
Space
Junk
In 1997, Lottie Williams was taking a walk in a park
in Tulsa, Oklahoma when a piece of metal fell out of the sky and hit her
shoulder. She later found out that it was a part of an old space rocket that
fell to Earth.
So how did this happen? Since 1957, space programmes
have sent thousands of objects into orbit. Some of these objects fall back to
Earth and burn up on the way to the surface. However, there’s a lot of debris
like old rocket parts and used satellites still circling the Earth. Even a
glove that was lost during the first American spacewalk in 1965 is still out
there somewhere!
No one knows how much junk is circulating in space,
but scientists estimate that there are 22,000 man-made objects that are big
enough to track. In addition, there are millions of pieces of metal, plastic
and glass that are smaller than a centimetre. They were created by explosions
or accidental collisions between large space objects.
All this debris is causing serious problems for space
programmes today. Even a little piece of junk can destroy a satellite, which
costs millions of dollars. These tiny pieces are actually the most dangerous
because they move at extremely high speeds but they are too small to track.
In 1983, the windscreen of the shuttle Challenger
was hit by a 0.3-mm fragment that was travelling at 4 kilometres per second.
The windscreen had to be replaced because of the damage. In June 2011, there
was a near collision between the International Space Station and an
unidentified piece of junk. It flew so close that the space crew immediately
prepared to evacuate the station for their own safety.
At
the moment, there are agreements among the space agencies to make sure that
what is sent into space will be designed to return towards Earth and burn up on
the way. This will reduce space debris in the coming years, but will not remove
what is already out there. Therefore, scientists are considering unusual
techniques to clean up the skies, like special lasers or devices that will
sweep up the space debris. No matter what the method, the international space
community knows that a solution has to be found now to protect future space
exploration.
Writing Test: Write a summary (80 words) of the
following text. Rephrase, don't copy and paste from the text.
Summary
In
the previous text, Lottie Williams was hit by something made of metal coming
from the sky. The reason for this seems to be the comeback many different
materials are experiencing, such as rockets or satellites that end up falling
out of the sky. It is widely accepted that this debris is risky for us, due to
the huge damage they can cause. An example of this is the near collision the
International Space Station and a piece of junk could have suffered in 2011.
For this reason, agreements are being made not only to avoid this, but to clean
up skies, too.

to tell they adventures in the Round Table where they met.
King Arthur had many many problems with his wife
because the wife had a lover. Arthur sentenced his wife and Lanzarote (the
